Children are welcome aboard our vessels; however, for their safety, we recommend bringing appropriately sized life jackets. (we do have of kids life jackets available but a limited amounts) Pets are allowed on a case-by-case basis; please contact us in advance to discuss your specific needs.

What is required to rent a boat?What is required to rent a boat? Renters must possess a valid drivers license, and have a major credit card. If you were born after January 1, 1988, Florida law requires you to have a Boating Safety Education Identification Card or equivalent. Boating Safety Education can be obtained online before the rental. Without this certification, a USCG Licensed Captain must be hired.

Cancellation Policy ⚓Cancellation Policy ⚓ You may cancel your reservation at any time up to 20 days prior to your scheduled service date at 9:00 AM without incurring any fees. 24-Hour Grace Period 🌟 If you book a service between 20 days and 5 days before the scheduled date, you’ll have a 24-hour grace period from the time of booking to cancel without any charges. After this 24-hour window, the standard cancellation fees will apply. Cancellation Fees 💳 20 to 3 days before the service date: 20% of the total booking amount will be charged. 3 to 1 day before the service date: 50% of the total booking amount will be charged. Less than 24 hours before the service or failure to arrive ("no-show"): 100% of the total booking amount will be charged. We appreciate your understanding as we navigate smooth waters for all our guests. 🌊⚓

What is the return policy?As long as the merchandise is still in good condition with the tag on, you're good! The only return we cannot accept it swimwear.

What do you rent on North Captiva?We rent boats that can carry a capacity of 10-12 people. We also rent kayaks, bikes, paddle board, and fishing poles. Equipment rented same day must be returned by 5PM.

How much time should I budget to get from the airport to North Captiva?About 2 hours. During spring break the airport can be busier, so anticipate more time to be needed then.

We are coming for vacation what should we bring?You can shop ahead for groceries or you can have them delivered to the island. We recommend to pack more food than clothing. During the spring/early summer months the weather will start to get hot and humid. During the winter months our temperatures usually hover between 70~80. We do get colder weather occasionally.

What are the rental times and and docking times?Single day - Rental times are from 9AM to 5PM. Multi-Day rentals - First day the rental starts at 9AM after the first day, boats may be used from sunrise to 5PM, all rental boats must be docked for the night by 5PM every day, at Boats and Fun or a suitable, safe dock for the night that has been approved by Boats and Fun.

Is a Boater’s License Required?Anyone born on or after January 1, 1988 who operates a vessel powered by 10 horsepower or more must pass an approved boater safety course and have in his/her possession a drivers license and a boating safety education identification card issued by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission or A non-resident must have in his or her possession proof that he or she has completed a NASBLA-approved boater safety course or equivalency examination from another state.

Boat Rentals are not allowed out when there is a small craft advisory. Rental charges will only be prorated on short term rentals: Long term rentals (longer than 4 days) will not receive a proration on the rental. Long term rentals assume the risk of not being able to use the boat when events arise that are beyond the control of the lessor and receive a better daily rate based on this risk. Short term rentals (shorter than 4 days) will receive a proration based on days that boats were allowed out.

What disqualifies me from renting a boat? ⚓What disqualifies me from renting a boat? ⚓ To ensure safety on the water, certain factors can disqualify you from renting a boat with Boats and Fun: Age Requirement: Renters must be at least 25 years old with a valid photo ID. Boating License: If you were born after January 1, 1988, Florida law requires a Boating Safety Education Identification Card or an equivalent license. (you can get it online) Without this, you’ll need to hire a USCG Licensed Captain. DUI Conviction: If you have had a DUI conviction within the last 3 years, you will not be eligible to rent a boat. Impairment: We reserve the right to deny rentals to anyone under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any condition that may impair safe operation. What is the biggest boats I can rent?The rental boats have a capacity range of 10 to 12 people. Children/Infants count toward the capacity total.

What is the largest motor in your fleet?Currently our 24 ft Hurricane has the largest motor at 225 HP.

Where could I take the rental boat?Navigation of power boats is confined to inland and intracoastal waterways (east side of the barrier islands, rental boats are not allowed on the open gulf side of the barrier islands) extending from Boca Grande to the Lighthouse of Sanibel, FL.

Can they go in the Gulf?No. Insurance regulations prevent the boats from going offshore.

Is there a deposit?Yes, it is $1,000 but it is not due at the time of booking. The deposit can only be run on a card (credit or debit)

What is included?All safety equipment including first aid kits, air horns, life jackets. The rental also includes a in person lesson of the area and a booklet with charts of the area.

Do I need a lesson if I have rented previously?Yes. We always like to ensure everyone is up to date with navigation rules and changes.

What is the age requirement to rent?25. The name on the drivers license and credit card (that the authorization is run on) need to match.

Can I return the boat to a different location from the pickup?All rentals must be picked and returned at the same location.

Who can drive?Only the renter with a contract and security deposit on their name is allowed to drive.

Is there Pre-rental boating lesson?Boating classes are required for all renters regardless of the experience or the previous rental history. Based on the participation, engagement and successful or unsuccessful completion of this class and at the discretion of the captain giving the class, a boat rental can be canceled or terminated at the time.

Is fuel included?Fuel Is not included on the rental rate, boats must be returned with a full tank of fuel.

What happens if I return the boat late?Boats must be returned at the latest by 5PM, late returns will be charged at a rate of $150 per half hour.

How do I charge it?Plug it into a regular house outlet. The cord to charge the cart is included.

Where should I not drive?Do not drive through large or small puddles. Doing so can cause the cart to get damaged and become unresponsive. Do not drive through loose sugar sand or on the beach.

What kind of golf carts are they?Electric Club Cart Tempos.

What is the max capacity?The golf carts can only hold 4 people. Putting more than 4 on a cart can damage the cart and possibly cause the renter to lose the deposit.

When does the rental start?The rental starts on the day of the rental reservation through the day of the return.

What do I need to pick it up?The renter that booked the cart is required to be present at pick up and drop off.

What is the late Policy?Please keep in contact with us if you encounter a delay. Our office number is (800) 991 3259, we will do our best to try to adjust to your new arrival time. If we are not contacted with time and a Captain is waiting, there will be a $50 charge per every half hour.

Are all your captains licensed?Yes! they are all Coast Guard licensed and insured. They are also in a random drug testing consortium.

How many people can go on a Private Charter, can it be more than 6?The US Coast Guard limit private charters to 6 passengers max per boat. According to the Coast Guard, a person is considered anyone between a newborn and a full adult. We can run up to 3 boats at a time for up to 18 Passengers

Is there a Cargo Limit?Please note each passenger is allowed 1 full size piece of luggage, one smaller bag and a few bags of groceries. Please pack efficiently as all Cargo must be loaded in and out of the boats and then onto golf carts all by hand. The boat has a cargo trunk about the size of the the trunk an SUV. Just make sure everything on your group would fit in the back of an SUV.

Where does the water taxi normally run?Our water taxis run to: North Captiva Island, Pine Island, Captiva Island, Sanibel Island and Boca Grande. We can also do custom trips to pretty much anywhere in south west florida.

Weather PolicyAll water related activities are suspended when lightning is within 10 Miles or within 15 Miles moving your way. All Water related activities are suspended when dense fog or low visibility (less than 4nm visibility) is present. Boat Rentals will be suspended when a small craft advisory is issued by the coast guard or national weather service.
