This year is off to a very bad start to manatees. Florida's harsh winter took a huge and unprecedented told on them. Now it is spring, they are facing yet another disaster, a huge unprecedented oil spill. This is especially troubling for manatees because it comes at the end of the worst manatee winter die-off ever experienced. Over 500 Manatees have already died this year from all causes, mostly from cold distress due to the prolonged cold winter.
